PRE-TAN CARE

1. Shower, shave, and exfoliate 8–24 hours before your appointment using a gel-based body wash. NO Dove, Olay, or bar soaps. (Showering or shaving too close to your appointment can interfere with how your skin absorbs the solution.)

RECOMMENDED OPTIONS: Cetaphil, Aveeno (fragrance-free), Hempz, Method, Alevia, or Raw Sugar body washes.

If you don’t already own an exfoliating mitt, I strongly recommend getting one. It’s a one-time essential purchase — not only for proper prep, but also for removing your tan later when it reaches that patchy phase. Mitts are available for local pickup or online purchase.

2. Complete waxing, massages, and nail appointments at least 48 hours prior. This allows time for oils and products to fully wash off the skin!

🚫 Avoid retinol products the week leading up to your tan.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Begin hydrating your skin daily with lotion the week leading up to your tan appointment.

3. Arrive with completely clean skin. This includes no lotions, deodorant, makeup, oils, perfumes, or jewelry.

4. SUNBURN POLICY: If you arrive with a fresh sunburn, I will unfortunately need to reschedule your appointment. I do not spray tan over sunburned skin — this is non-negotiable. 🚫

You must wait at least 4 weeks after a peeling burn before receiving a spray tan. Spraying too soon will result in a very uneven, splotchy outcome.

POST TAN

1. Avoid all water exposure until your designated rinse time. This includes showering, sweating, swimming, rain, or any activity that may cause moisture. Your recommended rinse time will be provided at your appointment.

2. Do not apply makeup, lotions, oils, deodorant, or perfume until after your first shower.

3. To prevent stained palms or weird creasing, avoid unnecessary hand-to-skin or any skin-to-skin contact while your tan is developing.

4. FIRST SHOWER INSTRUCTIONS❗️

When you first step into the shower, you’ll see brown water — this is just the cosmetic bronzer rinsing off. Use your hands to push/guide the bronzer off your skin until the water runs clear.

Only use soap on underarms and privates — water everywhere else! Once the water runs clear, you can step out of the shower.

✔️ Keep the shower quick — about 3–5 minutes max
✔️ Pat dry with your towel (do not rub)
✔️ Use lukewarm water only

PRO TIP: Quick showers help your tan last longer. 🤍

5. One last tip (a little quirky but important): Avoid peeing in the shower during your first rinse — it can strip your tan and stop it from developing properly where it runs down LOL.

DAY OF SESSION

1. Follow your pre-tan care instructions.

2. Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment. A loose long-sleeve top, sweats, and open-toed sandals or slides are ideal.

⚠️ The cosmetic bronzer can transfer to clothing but is water-soluble and should wash out.

Avoid tight clothing, bras, shorts, tank tops, socks, and tennis shoes after being sprayed so your tan can develop evenly.

3. Plan ahead to arrive on time. Please allow extra time for traffic.

MAINTENANCE

I want your spray tan to last as long as possible — not fade prematurely due to products that aren’t formulated to support / extend your spray tan results. If you tan even occasionally, these products make a HUGE difference in how long your color will last and how evenly it will fade 🤍

🧤 Exfoliating Mitt — $7
Removes old sunless tan and preps your skin for a new tan. Loofahs, washcloths, and body scrubs don’t count — they won’t fully remove old tan or prep your skin properly. A one-time purchase and an absolute must — thank me later!

Tanning Touch-Up Spray — $15 / $24
Perfect for areas that FADE FASTER — skincare and vacation girlies, I’m talking to you — especially hands, feet, face, and chest. Simply mist onto the skin and allow 8 hours for the color to fully develop and be brought right back. My top-selling product and a must for vacation tanners (hence the travel-friendly size options).

🧴 Glazed Daily Body Lotion — $24
Lightweight, non-greasy, unscented hydration made specifically for spray tan / self tan girlies to support longer-lasting results. Products high in fragrance, alcohols, sulfates, parabens, or oils can break down your tan faster — this lotion is designed to extend a sunless tan, not strip it. My personal go-to for years!

60-Second Tan Erasing Scrub — $35
Vacationing 6+ days and spending lots of time in the water? Bring this — it helps remove leftover color so you don’t look splotchy in your swimsuit. 🤍 A must-have for active self tanners, spray tan regulars, or membership clients. Breaks down stubborn leftover tan so you don’t have to over-scrub when fading gets patchy. For best results, pair with the exfoliating mitt.

🤎 Tan Me Self-Tanning Mousse — $35
Ultra-hydrating, brown-based self tanner with a universal color, zero orange — TRUST ME, this is the BEST self tanner. The longer you wear it, the darker it gets.

Optional add-on: Sunless Mitt — $7

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I schedule my spray tan?

For best results, book your spray tan 2 days before your main event. If you’re tanning for a vacation, schedule your appointment the day before you leave so your color is fresh and lasts as long as possible.

How long will my tan last?

On average, clients using a Rapid Rinse solution can expect their tan to last 5–8 days, while clients using an 8-hour solution typically see results last 7–12 days.

Every client’s skin is different, and results can vary based on how you prep and care for your tan. Be sure to review our Tan Care Instructions at the top of this page for best results — your tan will thank you!

Things that can also affect how your tan develops or lasts include hormonal changes such as pregnancy, your menstrual cycle, or recent medication changes.

How can I extend the life of my spray tan?

Hydration is key! Drinking plenty of water and moisturizing daily — especially the week leading up to your tan — helps create hydrated skin for better, longer-lasting results. After your appointment, continue using a spray tan–friendly moisturizer daily to lock in your color and keep your tan looking fresh.

Recommended moisturizers:

  • Glazed Daily Lotion (available at the salon)

  • Hempz Lotion

  • Cetaphil Lotion

  • Palmer’s Coconut Daily Hydrate Lotion

  • Aveeno Lotion (fragrance-free)

What should I wear to my spray tan appointment?

Wear something loose and comfortable, preferably in dark colors. Tight clothing can interfere with your results, so let your tan breathe until your first shower. Avoid items like tight shoes, socks, bras, jeans, or leggings. Slides, sandals, or slippers are best.

During your appointment, you may choose to tan in:

  • Fully nude (18+ only)

  • Underwear (your own or disposable options provided)

  • Top and bottom coverage

Nipple pasties are available if needed.

Can I get a spray tan with leftover tan still on my skin?

For best results, your previous spray tan should be fully exfoliated off before your appointment. Layering a new tan over an old one can cause uneven results and patchy fading. Trust me on this one — your tan will turn out so much better!

Will I turn orange?

No — every tan is custom tailored to your skin using professional techniques, high-quality solutions, and color theory to ensure natural-looking results.

Fun fact:

Your solution details are saved by your technician each time you tan with us. At your next appointment, you can simply tell us if you’d like to go darker, lighter, or keep it the same — no need to remember the shade. We’ve got you covered!

Can I workout after my spray tan?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before working out. Sweat and friction can interfere with how your tan develops, so giving it time to fully set will help ensure the best results.

Can I shave with my spray tan?

Shaving is technically a form of exfoliation. If you need to shave, use a brand-new razor, be gentle, and pair it with a gel-based body wash. Pressing too hard for a closer shave can cause the tan to fade faster, so keep it light and minimal for best results.

Is mobile tanning offered?

Mobile tanning is not offered at this time.
